Along the Sarykul river, Kara-Tyube mountains. V.S. Korsakov in 1958 (1960). Stratotype in the Sarykul river.

Lithology and Thickness
Quartz-albite, quartz-albite-mica slates, layers of quartzites, marbles, basic metavolcanites. Thickness 1100-1300m.

The age of the Sarykul Fm as Proterozoic is accepted conditionally. Previously, the Sarykul suite was conditionally referred to the Middle-Late Ordovician (Korsakov et al., 1984); on the State Geological Map-500 of Uzbekistan (460) it is conditionally referred to the Proterozoic.
